To obtain a marriage license in North Dakota, applicants must apply in person at the County Recorder's office in the county where they intend to marry. The statewide fee is $65. Both parties must present a government-issued photo ID and proof of age, along with their Social Security number. No residency requirement applies, and there is no waiting period; the license remains valid for 60 days from issuance. Individuals aged 18 and older may apply without additional consent. Those aged 16 or 17 may marry with both parental consent and approval from a district judge. Individuals under 16 are not permitted to marry under state law.
